707 stranded passengers airlifted to Srinagar from Jammu | KNO

Srinagar, February 11 (KNO) : Amid continuous closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway, the Army on Monday claimed to have airlifted 707 passengers from Jammu to Srinagar. The relief effort in J&K has been undertaken jointly by the Indian Air force and civil administration, PRO Defence Jammu Lt Col Devender Anand said. "For the 1st time, two C-17 Aircrafts airlifted 707 stranded students and civil passengers simultaneously from Air Force Station Jammu. In 1st sortie total 301 and in 2nd sortie 406 passengers including students were airlifted from Jammu to Srinagar," he said as per a statement issued to KNO. Jammu Air Commodore SK Mishra personally supervised the entire Air Lift Operation at Jammu Airbase, he said, adding that all the passengers were also provided with Food packets by the Tiger Division. The passengers were extremely thankful to the civil administration and Armed forces for a great humanitarian relief in the time of dire necessity.(KNO)
